THE HORRORS OF TERRORISM (Essay)
THE HORRORS OF TERRORISM
Essay for intermediate
These days terrorism and acts of terror, have became the most dreaded words, throughout the length and breadth of Pakistan. No city has been spared by these horrible terrorists, the killers of humanity. Not a day passes when these deplorable acts of terrorism are not unleashed on the poor and innocent victims.
Terrorism, has added a new dimension in our country. The suicide bomber ______ who is strapped with deadly explosives to his body, blows himself up, along with the rest of his victims. This is the most horrible act, in which several innocent people lose their precious lives along with extensive material damage.
This gruesome act (suicide bombing) has infiltrated into Pakistan from Iraq, where unfortunately such suicide attacks are an everyday affair. In our country, these suicide bombings are being carried out in a planned manner, to de- stabilize the Govt, by the religious extremists, the enemies of Islam and Pakistan, causing a great loss of lives and extensive material damage.
In all these suicide bombing attacks, nobody has claimed any responsibility. Though it is widely believed that either the Al- Qaida or the Talibans are behind these acts. Whoever these people are, they are insane, because no sensible person, in his proper mind, would act in this terrible manner. Certainly they are not friends of Pakistan.
The question arises, why are these acts of terrorism being carried out with such regularity? The think- tanks of our country attribute many causes, which promote acts of terrorism. One reason, which is generally mentioned is, the wide gap that exists between the haves and have-nots. Out of frustration and anger, this class uses force and indulges is acts of terrorism. The other factor which promotes terrorism, in our set-up, is unemployment and injustice. The unemployed resort to the use of force and commit bank hold-ups, dacoities, kidnappings, cell phone snatchings for ransom etc. Religious intolerance among different sects is, another very big reason for acts of terrorism in our country.
At the international level too, injustice and deprivation are the main causes for acts of terrorism. In Kashmir, Palestine, Chechnya_______ all Muslim countries, are engaged in freedom struggle, which is being denied to them. So, out of frustration and anger, the freedom fighters resort to use of force, to vent their feelings.
Needless to say, such acts of terror, cause fear and anguish among the people. They feel insecure and dread going to markets or crowded places.
The recent high-profile act of terror, in which the former prime minister of Pakistan was killed and the back-lash of the hoodlums and criminals caused a wave of fear and panic amongst the people. Tens of thousands of cars and property were torched and hundreds lost their lives. Never before in the history of Pakistan, was such an act of terrorism ever witnessed. A wave of terror was let loose on the people in all major cities of Pakistan causing a loss of billions, to the country.
I pray with all my heart and soul that, acts of terrorism witnessed on that fateful day 27th Dec, 07, are never repeated again.
I fail to understand why do these terrorists, kill the innocent people. If their motive is to de-stabilize the govt. why do they target the innocent civilians?
If their aim is to create panic and fear among the people, then, they have certainly achieved that, as the man-in- the street is definitely scared to death, at these ghastly suicide attacks.
Regarding containment of terrorism our president has very rightly said, to “eliminate terrorism one has to identify and hit at its roots. Osama and Al- Qaida, are just leaves and branches of terrorism. If is the root, which should be hit.” I’ll end, with this fervent prayer. May Almighty Allah, guide the insane. May these perpetrators of evil and crime be identified and eliminated, so that our society be rid of them, permanently.
May Allah protect Pakistan, from all its enemies. Aameen.
